The film stars Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, and Jagapathi Babu.
The film’s plot is mostly under wraps, but a story leak suggests it is set in the late nineteenth century and follows the story of two characters, one an Anti-Terrorist Squad soldier and the other a gangster named Salaar, who may be involved in a larger conspiracy involving the country.

The plot of Salaar revolves around the deadly conflict between a soldier’s loyalty to his nation and a gangster’s ambition to become the most wanted criminal in the country. Prabhas, who rose to fame with his roles in Bahubali and Mirchi, will play two characters in the film – a criminal named Salaar and an Anti-Terrorist Squad soldier. Shruti Haasan will play the female lead, Aadhya, but her impact on the story is not yet known.
Prithviraj Sukumaran and Jagapathi Babu will play antagonistic roles as Vardharaja Mannar and Rajamanaar, respectively.
The film is one of six projects in development for Prabhas, with Adipurush and Salaar being the only two formally announced.

executive producer is K.V. Rama Rao. Ravi Basrur, who previously composed music
for Neel’s K.G.F movies, will be the music director for Salaar.
Originally
slated for release on April 14, 2022, the film’s release was postponed due to
COVID-19 pandemic concerns, and it is now set to hit theaters on September 28,
2023. With Prabhas’ dedication to his craft and Neel’s impressive track record,
Salaar is sure to be a blockbuster.
